The hats can then be put on your Mii in StreetPass mode, so you look cooler or at least more your preferred style when you meet other people through StreetPass. To put them on you select your Mii in the StreetPass Mii Plaza and then go to Mii Settings. Here you can change your hat to what you want of the hats you have unlocked or choose to have no hat.

Mario Hat - Room 1 1st Time
Cat Hat - Room 2 1st Time
Red Pikmin Hat - Room 5? 1st time
Kirby Hat - Room 7 1st time
Link Hat - Room 8 1st time
Dog Hat - Room 9 1st time
Samus Hat - Room 12 1st time
Crown Hat - Final Room/Summit 1st time
Luigi Hat - 1st Room 2nd Time
Blue Pikmin Hat - 4th room 2nd time
Bunny Hat - 6th room 2nd time
Bowser Hat - 8th room 2nd time
Toad Hat - 10th room 2nd time
Yellow Pikmin Hat - 11th room 2nd time
Metroid Hat - 12th room 2nd time
Ultimate Hat - Final Room/Summit 2nd Time
