Celebrating Mario Day with Mario Games on Various Nintendo Systems

With today being Mario Day I dug out some of my old and more recent Mario games. I started with the console games.

I started with the oldest Nintendo console, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). For NES I have two Mario games. They are Mario is Missing and Super Mario Brothers. I never really could figure out Mario is Missing, so I quickly stopped playing that one and played Super Mario Brothers until I got Game Over once.

The next console I have a Mario game for is the Super Nintendo. For Super Nintendo I have Mario Paint, but I cannot actually play it because I do not have the special mouse and without it I have not been able to figure out how to play if that is even possible.

The next system I tried to play on was my Nintendo 64. For the N64 I have Mario Golf. This time the issue was that my N64 would not turn on. Honestly, I probably never tried the system when I bought it off of eBay a few years ago. It might have never worked since I had it. I am going to eventually try it with my brother's power cord, as it seems that might be the only issue.

Next I played Gamecube, although I played it on the Wii. I have Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Golf Toadstool Tour for Gamecube. I only played Mario Kart, though, because the golf one my brother currently has.

My final console game was Mario Kart Wii, which is the only Mario game I own for the Wii. I played some online races on this game.

After the console games I played my Mario handheld games. I started with Alleyway for Original Game Boy, although I played it on a Game Boy Color. Alleyway barely has Mario, but it is Mario that gets in the paddle before you begin the brick style game.

I do not have any Game Boy Color games with Mario, so I skipped to playing my Game Boy Advance Mario games. For Game Boy Advance I have Super Mario Brothers and Mario Kart Super Circuit. Super Mario Brothers would not work on my DS and it is basically what I was playing on the NES earlier.

Lastly I played my Mario DS game, which is Mario Kart DS.

Nintendo 64 Screenshots: Mario Tennis

Here are some screenshots I took of Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64. This was a fun tennis game of its time, but the Wii Tennis now is extremely better than this one. It is not too bad of a game, though, however I still think Mario Golf is the best of the Mario brand sports, especially the N64 version. Anyways it can be a fun sports game for N64, a system that did not seem to be too flooded with sports games like all the modern video game systems are (although the Wii not so much, yet). Nintendo 64 Video Clip: Wave Race 64

Here is the video clip I did of Wave Race. It is not great, but it is the best I could do with a seven year old who did not have a clue how to really play the game. It just shows how the game just does not really have much depth to it. It is a fun concept, though, for a game. Just did not work out too well as a N64 game.

Nintendo 64 Screenshots: Wave Race 64

Here are a few screenhots of Wave Race 64 for Nintendo 64 that I took the other day. It is not that great of a game, but it can be entertaining for a little while. Click on the thumbnails to see a larger version of the images.

Nintendo 64 Video Clips: Rampage 2

Here are the links to the video clips I did of Rampage 2. They are not great, as the seven year old was playing. Also, one of the clips may seem to be skipping stuff because I edited out the parts where the kid ended up with his head blocking the screen. He was jumping around as if he was playing the Wii version. Click the links below to see the clips.

Nintendo 64 Screenshots: Rampage 2

Here are some screenshots I took while out of town with the family I work for. The seven year old was playing the hotel Nintendo 64. I got enough material to last at least until I get back from my next trip, which is for fun to D.C. to see the Cubs play the Nationals and see the fireworks. Will have internet, so I plan to try to do the normal post a day. Click the thumbnails below to see a larger version of the images

Nintendo 64 Video Clip: Pokemon Snap

This is one of my favorite console games of all time. You can probably guess it is because I enjoy photography. I contemplated doing screenshots, but decided it was too weird to do screenshots of a game you are taking pictures in. So instead I did videos of all the levels. Links to each level clip are listed below.

Rainbow Cloud Level

I am going out of town tonight and going to be back late Saturday. I again leave town on Monday at 4:30am. Back from that trip Friday morning. And then again leaving next Sunday and being back home for at least a few weeks on July 11. I will try to post some stuff at least on Sunday and Saturday and Sunday the week after. I will have Internet most of the time, so I may post more often, but it depends on if I am able to do some screenshots and videos to use.

Nintendo 64 Video Clip: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Here is a video I did of Kirby 64 the other day. It is one of my favorite N64 adventure style games. I also loved the weapons and the ability to combine weapon types to make different weapons. Click on the link below to see the video clip.

Nintendo 64 Screenshots: Pokemon Stadium 2

Here are some screenshots of Pokemon Stadium 2 yesterday at my brother's party. I found it really fun to get the attack photos in the battledome. Some came out quite awesome. Unfortunately, yesterday afternoon I had to take my camera in for repair. All the photos the last few days have a black spot in the corner if you did not notice yet. I will not have that camera back for at least two weeks. I do not know how motivated I will be to take screenshots with my lesser quality camera, but we will see. I am thinking maybe it will be more of a video week. Click on thumbnails below to see a larger version of the pictures (and the black dot).
