The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Sunday, January 20, 2013 is the Never Gonna Let You Down Badge.  This is a hard rated badge for the game Music Catch 2.  To get the badge you need to score 5,000,000 points in the song "Letting Go."  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 33 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points (63 if you are a KongPlus Member).

After about half an hour of trying I was able to get this badge using the following settings:

• Shapes: Floral
• Pattern: Straight
• Motion: Fixed
• Randomize: Off

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Finnish Finish

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Sunday, December 25, 2011 is the Finnish Finish badge.  This is a Medium rated badge for the game Santa Rockstar: Metal Xmas 3. To get the badge you need to successfully complete all songs in the North Pole and Finland. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points (32 if you are a KongPlus Member).

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, November 9, 2011 is the Gentle Giant Badge.  This is a Medium rated badge for the game Music Catch 2.  To get the badge you need to end the song "Gentle" with a multiplier of at least 100.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Saturday, May 21, 2011 is Music Survivalist.  This is a Hard rated badge for the game Streamline.  To get the badge you need to survive the game.  For getting this  Badge of the Day you get 33 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This seems like it could be possible if I took some time to get used to the game, but I do not have the patience for mouse control only with my touchpad right now.

Nintendo DS Screenshots: LEGO Rock Band

About a week ago I had LEGO Rock Band as my Gamefly rental. I had been excited to try it, as I love the Rock Band games on the Wii including LEGO Rock Band and I thought it would be fun on the DS. Well, it is not all that great.

I do not mind that it is just regular buttons and not the fancy external guitar Guitar Hero for the DS has, as the DSi generation is taking over and the Guitar Hero thing does not even work for anyways. What I do not like is you do not actually choose to do one instrument, but instead are expected to flip between them to do really well on a song. It is just kind of annoying and ruins the authentic Rock Band feel of the game. It is also very odd that the vocals are in the game and you hit buttons for it and do not use the microphone in any way. Just seems like it should use the microphone or not have it at all.

Overall total disappointment and makes me hesitant to ever try Rock Band on a handheld system again, but if they do come out with another handheld version I will certainly be renting it first and am very glad I did. I will stick to Guitar Hero (a game I do not actually like on the console due to there style of guitar feeling awkward to me and my small hands) for on the go music gaming.

Nintendo Wii Screenshots: LEGO Rock Band

About a month ago I picked up LEGO Rock Band for the Wii used at Gamestop as part of a buy 2 get 1 free used game sale. I had been wanting it since it came out last November, but kept putting off buying it since I had not finished playing through Rock Band 2, Beatles Rock Band, or even the simple Country Pack (now I think I have unlocked all the songs on this one at least). Waiting ended up being good in that it now only costs about $20 (about $15 used) instead of the original $50, but honestly it is good enough to be worth the full original new price in my opinion.

LEGO Rock Band is not really all that much different in terms of actually playing the songs other than there is a Very Easy mode. However, I love that you unlock mini figs and other LEGO themed items. The coolest is decorating the Rock Den with the items you have unlocked and purchased. The choice of songs are also better than the purely Rock version, as it does not seem to have any of the annoying metal, etc.

Overall LEGO Rock Band has become my favorite version and I have been enjoying it a lot the past month. I actually think I have gotten closer to finishing this one's plot in one month than Rock Band 2 in a year, but mostly only because Rock Band 2 has other stuff like the Band Challenges and online challenges regularly added (I do not do these anymore, though, since I no longer have my Wii connected to the Internet).

Nintendo Wii Screenshots: Disney Sing It

I rented Disney Sing It since I finally have a Wii microphone from the Rock Band 2 bundle. I only rented it because it has one of my all time favorite songs "Ready, Set, Don't Go." It really is not worth it for just this one song, especially since I do not like singing. Now if they came out with one with classic Disney songs from movies and not stupid modern stuff like Aly & AJ and Camp Rock I might even like it if it was just singing. If it had guitar and/or drum compatibility with the Rock Band set or even just with Wii remote and nunchuck like Ultimate Band, I might even like it with the modern songs. As is it was kind of boring, although the music videos are totally real graphic wise like you would see on television. The only other interesting thing is the variety of play modes, but since I do not like the singing no matter the variety it does not get me into it. I also do not like the way the words come up on the screen. At least the Rock Band scrolling way is way better than this line by line way.

The newest Battle of the Bands Challenge is called A Metal Adventure. It is a general battle. The song is "Ace of Spaces '08, "Souls of Black," and "Almost Easy." The challenge is ranked by highest star count. This challenge does not required any songs to be purchased. I am busy getting ready to leave for vacation at 6am tomorrow, so I did not have time to try the challenge, but just check to see what it was.

The newest Battle of the Bands Challenge is called Don't You Know, Don't You Know? The theme is of a line that is repeated a lot in the song in the challenge. It is a general battle. The song is "Shooting Star." The challenge is ranked by highest star count. The song is included with Rock Band, so you do not have to purchase to play this challenge. I did not do that great, but I still love the challenges I can play without buying songs.
