Nintendo DS Screenshots: LEGO Rock Band

About a week ago I had LEGO Rock Band as my Gamefly rental. I had been excited to try it, as I love the Rock Band games on the Wii including LEGO Rock Band and I thought it would be fun on the DS. Well, it is not all that great.

I do not mind that it is just regular buttons and not the fancy external guitar Guitar Hero for the DS has, as the DSi generation is taking over and the Guitar Hero thing does not even work for anyways. What I do not like is you do not actually choose to do one instrument, but instead are expected to flip between them to do really well on a song. It is just kind of annoying and ruins the authentic Rock Band feel of the game. It is also very odd that the vocals are in the game and you hit buttons for it and do not use the microphone in any way. Just seems like it should use the microphone or not have it at all.

Overall total disappointment and makes me hesitant to ever try Rock Band on a handheld system again, but if they do come out with another handheld version I will certainly be renting it first and am very glad I did. I will stick to Guitar Hero (a game I do not actually like on the console due to there style of guitar feeling awkward to me and my small hands) for on the go music gaming.
