Tips from when I got it as badge last year: It helps to know long words and be good at anagrams to maximize damage by using the words in the canisters.  To score more points with even small words combine the letters by using transmute in the Boiler Room.  Two letters of same level can be combined to form a letter of the next level.  Combining two level 5 letters get you a special level 1 letter, which gives you more points, especially when used in long words.
