I was surprised that it took me less than an hour and only replaying campaigns a few times to successfully beat all 8.  I got all the top rows of upgrades and the Assault Tactics and Resupply Inbound in the second row.  I still had 2 upgrade points I could have used during final battle, but ended up not needing them.  I kind of mostly just kept sending random troops other than sending tanks followed by bazookas when a tank was coming.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Sky Maul

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, September 28, 2011 is the Sky Maul Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Shopping Cart Hero 2. To get the badge you have to kill the flying monkey boss.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I have played this to over 100 days and I still do not even know when you get to see the flying monkey boss.  It sounds like you need to get a lot if not all the upgrades to the cart and such to get far enough to attack the monkey.  This could easily take many hours and the game is so boring.  I might try later today, if I get a chance, but I do not much care since I have played this game before and know it is just totally boring to me.

Overall this game seems quite easy once you get the hang of it, but I keep getting frustrated by the mouse clicking and lag I am getting that is ruining the ability to be able to properly send the things around to where I want them without wasting precious time that allows the enemies to build up or take over.  I probably can get this badge, but not sure if it is worth much more frustration with the clicking and lag crap.

I got this badge on my second try on Easy.  The first time around I only failed because it took me quite a few rounds to figure out how banking worked (you have to have at least 300 points) due to the tutorial being quite useless.

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, September 21, 2011 is the Preparations Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Hello Worlds. The levels within the At World's End set are not too difficult in my opinion.  You do have to play through other areas until you have at least 42 stars before you can go through the door to the area.  You do not have to get all stars from every level.  You just simply have to complete each level (i.e. go through red door at end of each)

Nintendo DS Screenshots: Jeopardy

I love watching the game show Jeopardy and playing trivia games, so I was excited for this game to finally come up as my Gamefly rental earlier this month.  Lately, I have ended up being quite disappointed in my rentals including two 3DS LEGO games that frustrated me to the point of not even finishing the first level (Star Wars Clone Wars was worst and Pirates not much better).  I actually had low expectations all along for Jeopardy, so I do not know if it was the low expectations or just the fact it was a game that did not frustrate me, but either way I ended up falling in love with the game.

The easy mode of Jeopardy on the DS gives you three options for the question when you buzz in.  This makes it easy for you to guess with less certainty, although you are still risking the money if you get it wrong.  Starting in medium difficulty, though, it is like real Jeopardy and you have to type in your response.

Overall I found Jeopardy for the Nintendo DS to be a lot of fun.  Some categories were easy and others challenging, but it was fun to learn new things while playing.

I found this game to be technically easy to beat, but it did take about an hour to play through because of all the training you need to go through to have good enough stats to win races.  Most of the races you do nothing.  Only in the Final Race do you need to do anything to win, which is shoot the Domo guys.

I got this badge back in June.  I like this game because it reminds me of the pirate battle game they used to have with VMK.  It is pretty easy to end up with 10 enemy ship kills.  The fastest way to take over ships is to get near them and initiate a take over.  This costs you crew, though, not a big deal if just going for easy bade.

I got this badge on my first try the other day when I was completing the Walk Like a Pirate Quest.  My main strategy was keeping a turret on each row at all times.  It took me 22 days to escape, but I forgot about buying the repairs until more than half way through and probably could have done it faster, although not fast enough for the hard badge (11 days).

Kongregate Badge of Day: Trigger Me Timbers

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Friday, September 16, 2011 is the Trigger Me Timbers Badge.  This is a medium rated badge for the game Pirate Defense. To get the badge you have to beat the Easy Map. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

There are 25 waves that you have to make it through to beat the Easy map.  The strategy that worked best for me was blocking all the bridges with Spear Tower and blocks and then making the path so that the enemies had to wind back and forth.  I mostly used Spear Towers for blocking, but also through in some blocks to make the path longer.  I only upgraded a few of the towers.

I already got this badge the other day from finishing the Pirate Quest.  It seems the pirate quest games are going to continue to be featured as the badge of the day, as they have the past few days.   Finishing the quest gets you an extra 30 Kongregate points.

Badge of Day Release Should Return to Normal Soon

I was getting frustrated with the Badge of the Day not being available when I got up in the morning despite the Twitter announcing the day's badge already.  I finally decided to Tweet Kongregate and got a response that they have figured out the error and it should be back to normal soon.  It at least feels good to know they are doing something about it.  Would have been nice if they had proactively posted on Twitter about it before, though, as this has gone on for many days.  However, it is great that they rather promptly responded to me question.

Kongregate Badge of Day: Decorated Pirate

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, September 14, 2011 is the Decorated Pirate Badge.  This is a medium rated badge for the game Frantic Frigates.  To get the badge you have to unlock 15 medals. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.


This badge is not too difficult to get, but it can take upwards to an hour if you are not very good at it.  Some of the medals you really just need to play awhile to get such as play 3, 5, 8, and 10 times.  Also, the playing for so much time (15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour, and 2 hours) just take playing time.  The killing so many enemies is also just something that takes playing and takes shorter or longer depending on your skill.  Of course, if you get the hang of it quickly than you can be done faster, especially if you can get the beat Boss and beat Boss without getting hit ones on same tries.

It did not take me too much effort to get this badge, but it did take some getting used to the racing with the neon color tracks.  Also, the final race is kind of frustrating with the turns and the tunnels that block the view.  I found it not too hard, though, once I fully upgraded the wheels for better cornering.

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Saturday, September 10, 2011 is the Crushing This Daisy Badge.  This is a medium rated badge for the game endeavor.  To get the badge you have to touch 150 flowers. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I found this badge easy to get just by randomly wandering through the different areas of the game until I had touched 150 flowers.  It did not take too much time, but it was rather boring to do in my opinion.

Update 8:50am MST: The bonuses are now active, although the award page does not specifically mention them.  The bonuses show up on the Kongregate point history and PowerUp rewards history pages, though.

Tired of No Badge of Day in the Morning

This is getting annoying that I cannot knock out the Badge of the Day first thing in the morning.  At least the Kongregate Twitter feed tells me what it is, but I do not like that I have to then remember to go back later to get my bonuses.  Anyways, today's badge of the day is the Crushing This Daisy Badge in the endeavor game.  It is pretty easy to get, but rather boring in my opinion.  At least I got it done and hopefully I remember to go back later to see if it has been activated as badge of day.

I am thinking I should change to checking later in the day, but then I would probably totally forget or not have enough time to try to get the ones that are harder for me.  It is just really odd that the Kongregate Twitter account announces the badge 4 to 5 hours before I am awake and checking and then the Badge of the Day bonuses are still not active.

Kongregate Badge of Day: 16th Birthday

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Friday, September 9, 2011 is the 16th Birthday Badge.  This is an easy rated badge for the game Drift Runners.  To get the badge you have to destroy 10 objects in one race. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This is an easy badge to get.  Just focus on destroying stuff as you drive around and do not worry about placing, although you can probably still do well and still get the badge.

Note: The award thing is messed up and does not currently show the regular info of getting bonus points and PowerUp reward points, but the points are awarded.

Kongregate Badge of Day Late Again

The Kongregate Badge of Day is yet again showing the old one.  At first I was thinking maybe they changed the release time, but then I went to their twitter feed and it already says what today's badge is.  However, you cannot get the bonus points and PowerUp Rewards because the site still thinks yesterday's badge of Military Disarmament is the badge of the day.  Anyways, today's badge when set up is supposed to be 16th Birthday in Drift Runners, if you want to get it now and just have to go back to the game for the bonuses later.  I actually already have it from playing the game some back in May.  Will update with my regular Badge of the Day post when I notice it is active for the bonuses.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Military Disarmament

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Thursday, September 7, 2011 is the Military Disarmament Badge.  This is a medium rated badge for the game Orbital Decay.  To get the badge you have to destroy 10 turrets before destroying the unit carrying it. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This is overall quite easy.  Just shoot at the front turret on the big enemies with turrets to kill the turret before killing the enemy.  The best is when the caterpillar comes with a bunch of turrets on it.

No New Kongregate Badge of the Day, Yet

The badge of the day is one of the first things I like to do when I get up.  I do not always play it or get it in the morning, but I at least like to check what it is, as sometimes I already have the badge and I can really quickly load the game for the bonus points.  Sadly, as of 5:15am MST the Kongregate Badge of the Day is still showing as yesterday's (9/7/11's) for Pearl's Vengeance Badge.  No idea if those that did not get it yesterday can get bonus points from it today while it is still there or not, but it definitely is not today's badge, as it does not give bonus points today.  Here's to hoping it is fixed before I get back home around noon.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Pearl's Vengeance

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, September 7, 2011 is the Pearl's Vengeance Badge.  This is a medium rated badge for the game Battalion Vengeance.  To get the badge you have to win on the bonus map. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

The bonus map option is in the top left corner of the main menu.  I found it easy to beat once I realized I could make new units from the Warmachine units.  My favorite unit is the Vulture Drone because when it kills an enemy it gets to move and/or attack again.  Also, the Raptor Fighter is a must for dealing with the enemy Condor Bombers.

Badge.  This is a Hard rated badge for the game Mud and Blood 2.  To get the badge you have to beat wave 50 without losing more than 10 guys. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 33 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

3:40pm Update: I finally was able to get this badge after hours of trying.  It partially takes strategy to survive 50 waves and not lose more than 10 guys.  However, it is also partially based on luck, such as the battlefield layout and the enemy waves you encounter.   The strategy that ended up working for me was to have 5 soldiers (4 from beginning plus an extra from a crate drop), 4 .50 caliber jeeps (lost one early on from an airplane), and 1 scout.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Character Collector

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Saturday, September 3, 2011 is the Character Collector Badge.  This is a Medium rated badge for the game Great Dungeon in the Sky.  To get the badge you have to unlock 100 characters. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

To get the badge you must collect 100 characters.  It is overall quite easy, but it can take about 30 minutes to play through enough parts of the dungeon to meet enough different enemies and collect them.  You unlock characters when you defeat them.  You start with about 30, so really only have to unlock about 70 more.

How to Download 3DS Amassador Program Free eShop Games

I thought it would be very straightforward and my 3DS or the eShop would tell me exactly how to get the first 10 free games that were released on September 1, 2011, but it was not.  Instead I only stumbled across that they show up on downloaded games and you have to click redownload to get them.  Below is a step by step walkthrough to get the games if you are an Ambassador (i.e. you bought and used eShop before price drop).


How to Download 3DS Ambassador Titles

1. Enter eShop on 3DS
2. Tap on Menu in top left corner
3. Scroll down and select the Settings/Other option
4. Scroll down and tap on Your Downloads
5. Scroll down to find the titles.  The amount you have to scroll will vary depending on how much other stuff you have downloaded from the eShop.  You might have to click Next to go to another page to find all or some of the free games for 3DS Ambassadors.
6. Tap on redownload for the games you want to download.
7. Repeat the process to download the rest.

Overall the process is easy, but it is kind of annoying to have to go through all the steps over and over to get all of the initial 10 Virtual Console games.  Although, not as annoying as the fact that there was no alert.  However, in the process of getting all the games I also found I could download something called Ambassador Certificate, which allows you to turn on notifications.  Thus for the remaining titles promised to eventually be released for free to Ambassadors I should be able to know when they are available to go download.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Cake for Coins

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Friday, September 2, 2011 is the Cake for Coins Badge.  This is an Easy rated badge for the game Feed the King.  To get the badge you have to earn 100 coins. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.


This is an easy badge to get.  I earned enough in just 4 to 5 plays on Classic.  Every 1,000 points turns into 1 coin at the end of the game.  The coins accumulate, so you do not have to get 100 on one play.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.
