Do you love the Old West? Deadwood is a great series to bring the feeling of the Old West to your living room or wherever you like to watch TV. This is especially great for those who were unable to see the series when it first aired because they could not afford the premium channel HBO, especially if you had to let HBO go as part of cutting costs to get through the recession in the middle of the series.
While the show is mostly fictional it does include historical characters with varying amounts of historical and fictional portrayals. Just a few of the historical characters in the show at various points are Seth Bullock, Wyatt Earp, George Hearst, and one of my favorite Old West historical figures, Calamity Jane. See is a good character for Deadwood, as so much of her own stories about her life seem to be fictional anyways. Plus, she is an interesting lady being infamous for fighting Indians while also famous for helping the sick and needy.
