iPhone Game Screenshots: Whack-a-halloween

Whack-a-halloween is an okay Halloween game. It is just a simple tap game like whack-a-mole. You gain points by tapping the jack-o'-lantern scarecrow guys and lose points if you tap a witch. It can be frustrating to try to tap multiple of them per pop up, as the controls do not seem to quite always work. Still okay for a free game. Would be cool if there were different scenery levels and the rankings actually worked.

Nintendo Wii Screenshots: Mario Super Sluggers

Mario Super Sluggers can be an easy sports game, especially if you just use the Wii remote, although using the nunchuck allows for more control over the team and is also not that hard. Playing the baseball games on Mario Super Sluggers is kind of fun with the crazy power ups and attacks, but the story mode is annoying. There is just too much running around and playing mini games to get teammates before you ever even play a game. Sure, you can play Exhibition mode and play a game right away, but I would like to see it have a tournament mode that was just that a baseball playing mode and not the extra fluff of a pathetic Mario adventure. Actually, as is would not be too bad if you had ball games from the start instead of recruiting a team before playing. Overall not a bad game, but could be better.

Nintendo Wii Screenshots: Kidz Sports Ice Hockey

The idea of a Ice Hockey game sounded interesting to me. I thought this would be an easy to play version since it has Kidz in the name. Well, it is not. The controllers are not intuitive at all and even when I figured out what to do the controller response, especially for shooting stank. The main reason I avoid team ports games is that I prefer simple controls. This one is not only complex, but plain crappy that even those that like team sports games will probably be frustrated by this game.

Nintendo DS Screenshots: Harvest Moon Frantic Farming

Harvest Moon Frantic Farming is a puzzle style game and not the normal RPG style Harvest Moon game. I kind of thought it was the RPG type when I rented it, but since I also love puzzle games it did not matter to me that it ended up being a puzzle game. However, I imagine there are plenty of Harvest Moon fans that would be annoyed picking this version if they thought it was normal and did not like puzzle games.

It is an interesting concept of a puzzle game with a sprite moving around harvesting items in a grid and water the nearby squares. To keep alive you have to keep having vegetables ready to be harvested, so the sprite can move and then water to make more plants grow. Overall it is pretty simple, although does have a little more of a learning curve due to its unique way of working than most puzzle games.

Overall I really enjoyed this game, but it is still kind of weird to have farming as a puzzle game. It just does not seem like the right combination of themes. It is done well, though, and is even more entertaining than Puzzle de Harvest Moon.
