Kongregate Badge of Day: Forest Friends

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, August 31, 2011 is the Forest Friends Badge.  This is an Easy rated badge for the game Epic Battle Fantasy 3.  To get the badge you have to kill 20 enemies. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This is a very easy badge to get.  Just go around and find enemies. Press space to enter battle with them and then just attack them.  I easily beat 20 with very minimal effort in less than 10 minutes.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Creature Crawl

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Tuesday, August 30, 2011 is the Creature Crawl Badge.  This is an Easy rated badge for the game Hack Slash Crawl.  To get the badge you have to kill 50 enemies. For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I have this badge from back in April when I was trying to get the game's Spelunking Specialist Badge.  This badge is definitely easy and just takes some time and effort to get it done.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Veteran Veterinarian

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Monday, August 29, 2011 is the Veteran Veterinarian  Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Monster Slayers. To get the badge you have to upgrade one unit to veteran level.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I originally thought "Reach the "veteran" rank with one of your units" meant to level it up to a certain level, but instead it appears to mean purchase the upgrades to make it a veteran rank.  I got it after I upgraded one of my units for what I think was the third time, but could have been 4th, as I was not paying attention to that stat.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: ^_^

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Sunday, August 28, 2011 is the ^_^  Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Chibi Knight. To get the badge you have to defeat the final demon (after the three knights in the dungeon).  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

Two days in a row I just had to load game to get the bonus, as I already had this badge from it being the Badge of the Day back on April 24, 2011.   Here's my tip from then:

"Beating the enemies is pretty straightforward and easy until the knights and the final demon boss.  I found this walkthrough pretty helpful in knowing what to do to beat them."

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Have More Money for Video Games by Saving Money with Straight Talk

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk. All opinions are 100% mine.

The cost of having a cell phone can quickly add up with the cost of minutes, texts, and data.  Switching to Straight Talk can help you save on your monthly cell phone needs giving you more money to spend on other things, such as video games.  Not only will you save money, but you can also enjoy being free of contracts while still getting great nationwide coverage and phones from well known phone makers like LG, Motorola, and Samsung.

You can get coverage for everything you need by selecting the plan that best suits your cell phone usage.  This includes an All You Need Plan with 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts, and 30 MB of web data.  However, if you are like me and use a lot of data between downloading games and watching video game trailers on the go, then the Unlimited calls, text, and web packages are quite appealing.  These plans include a $45 month unlimited monthly service plan as well as a whole year plan for only $499.  Thus you can call a friend whenever you want without worrying about using up your minutes.

Straight Talk is also a great option for kids and teens with the cheap phones and no contract committments.  A mom knows best that it is not worth spending a bunch of money on contract phones when you can get them a cheap no contract that lets you pay nothing the months you do not use, such as when taking it away from kids for poor grades, etc.

Sidekick Game Review: Henchmen Prize

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sidekick. All opinions are 100% mine.

Henchman Prize is a new flash game on Sidekick.  In the game you are a villain.  You shoot weapons to destroy every Sidekick in each level.  It is basically a physics type game similar to the concept of Angry Birds.  There are a total of 36 levels to work your way through.

If you are into games like Angry Birds, then you should definitely Play Henchman Prize.  I personally do not find these games addictive, however, it can be fun to play through them once or at least until they get too challenging.  I actually like Henchman Prize better than the popular Angry Birds game because it actually has a reasonable amount of levels to beat.  Also, it has more unique set ups with the weapons not always being on the right side.

Overall Henchman Prize is a fun game if you like Physics games.  However, it can get difficult quickly, which can be a good thing for those that prefer more of a challenge, but can also be a bad thing for those new to Physics games and lack the patience to get the hang of it.  In particular Level 2 is oddly difficult with the barrel hitting the Sidekick not always being effective enough.

This is a very simple badge.  You can get it just farming the enemies right outside the city or you can do the quest and go beat the enemies to the north for a little quicker gold boost.  Either way can easily be done in less than 10 to 15 minutes.

Zacapa Premium Rum and its unique aging process

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Diageo. All opinions are 100% mine.

Zacapa

Whether you are a regular rum drinker or not, you might find Zacapa premium rum worth trying.  If you are a regular rum drinker, you might enjoy the uniqueness of Zacapa premium rum.  Zacapa is unique in how it is aged as well as the fact it uses virgin sugar cane honey instead of molasses.  The virgin sugar cane honey in Zacapa rum comes from the first press of sugar cane grown in the volcanic soil of Guatemala.

Zacapa rum is aged at about 2,300 meters above sea level in the Quetzaltenango highlands.  The coolness of the mountain air results in a slower aging process that gives the rum an unique and complex flavor profile.  The complex profile comes from it being aged via the Sistema Solera aging process.  As it ages, the rum goes through different casks that were previously used for American whiskey, Oloroso sherry, and Pedro Ximenez wines.  This gives the rum its unique flavor.

You can learn more Zacapa premium dark rum and its unique aging process by joining the Zacapa Society at http://biy.ly/pvKdC9.  Simply click to Join Zacapa and fill out the registration form with your e-mail address, address, etc.  As a member of the society, you not only can learn more about this unique rum, but you also get special opportunities for gifts and prizes.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Dragon Rage

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, August 24, 2011 is the Dragon Rage Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Dragon Age Legends: Remix 01. To get the badge you have to beat the dragon at the end of the game on any difficulty.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I found it very easy to beat the game on Easy.  Basically just click click click to attack.  The healing recharges fast enough that you do not need to really worry about it.  I used the Power option and upgraded it to max as soon as I could.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: The Goose That Laid the Golden Badge

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Tuesday, August 23, 2011 is the The Goose That Laid the Golden Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Endless Migration. To get the badge you have to earn all 29 in-game achievements.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I already had 25 before today.  I thought the one that you have to get all 16 in your flock to be swans would be the hardest, but I finally got that and am stuck trying to get the last 3 minutes as the only one I still need.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Unleashed Fury (and Zunder)

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Monday, August 22, 2011 is the Unleashed Fury (and Zunder) Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game ZunderFury. To get the badge you have to beat wave 10 and reach a 4x multiplier.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I found it not too hard to beat wave 10.  The hard part, though, is lasting so long in beaten deaths to get to a x4 multiplier.  I got there once, but it did not recognize it.  Maybe, it only does if you have it at the end of a wave or you have to have it done it when you beat wave 10.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Taking the Plunge

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Saturday, August 20, 2011 is the Taking the Plunge Badge. This is a hard rated badge for the game Enough Plumbers. To get the badge you have to beat all 25 levels of the game.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 33 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

At first the game is easy, but I ended up totally stuck at level 9.  I can even tell the strategy of floating and dropping, but I cannot manage to do it without hitting the fireballs.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Phase 2: ?

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Friday, August 19, 2011 is the Phase 2: ? Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game LARRY and the GNOMES. To get the badge you have to beat level 8 (i.e. the 2nd boss, end of Act II).  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I played this game on easy to get the badge.  Overall I found it very easy.  Just wildly attack hitting S over and over was pretty much my strategy.  Also, keep checking the weapons dropped and keep the one that does the most damage.

The only hard part for me was beating level 8.  It took me a while to figure out what to do and even then I kept messing up and getting hit.  Finally, after about 10 tries I beat him.

The strategy I used for beating the second boss was from the tips posted on the comments on Kongregate.  Get rid of any weapon you have, as you will need to grab spears.  Go to the top or bottom of screen.  When the ground starts to rumble, go to the opposite (i.e. from bottom go to top or from top go to bottom).  Then go right or left as the boss goes by, so the spear does not hurt you, although if you are good at avoiding the boss' other attacks this is very minimal damage to worry about.  Pick up the spear (E).  Now face towards where the boss is coming from and as he gets near throw the spear at him (D).  This will stun him and you can attack him wildly with S for a few seconds.  When the animal goes up on two legs get ready to jump.  You can do damage while it is up on two legs, just make sure you remember to jump right before his legs hit the ground, as the pound can hurt you even if you are far away from him, but it cannot if you are in the air even next to him.  Repeat until he is beat.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Casual Killing

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Thursday, August 18, 2011 is the Casual Killing Badge. This is an easy rated badge for the game Thing-Thing Arena 3. To get the badge you have to get 50 kills playing in casual or quickplay mode.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This was extremely easy for me to get on the first try.  Just click to kill the guys that come at you.  Go around to pick up ammo as needed.  It keeps popping back up in the same places.  After you have 50, die and click to continue for the score to be recognized and the badge awarded.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Almost Infamous

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, August 17, 2011 is the Almost Infamous Badge. This is an easy rated badge for the game Villianous. To get the badge you have to earn 3,000 infamy.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I love tower defense games and it was interesting to play it as the incoming waves instead of the towers like normal.  You earn infamy as you play and raid the villages.  It is definitely easy to get this badge.  I got in playing the first three levels just two or three times each and I did not even do that great of an upgrade build.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Dragon Rider

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Tuesday, August 16, 2011 is the Dragon Rider Badge. This is an easy rated badge for the game Flood Runner 3. To get the badge you have to ride on the dragon in the sky.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This badge took me all of 5 seconds.  Okay, so all I had to do was load the game because I already have all the Flood Runner 3 badges.  Anyways, it really is not quite that easy unless you too already have it, but it is not too hard.  Try to stay in the clouds awhile, so you can easily land on top of the dragon when it comes by.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Sweet Grid16

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Monday, August 15, 2011 is the Sweet Grid16 Badge. This is an easy rated badge for the game Grid16. To get the badge you have to reach a multiplier of at least x3.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This game requires some fast reflexes.  The 16 different games are all pretty simplistic, but the switching ends up with you sometimes leaving them in a spot that makes it hard to not lose when you are suddenly back at that one.  It can be frustrating, but with some practice x3 is not too hard to get for a Badge of the Day, although it is harder than some easy badges are.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Real-World Geometry

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Sunday, August 14, 2011 is the Real-World Geometry Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Boomstick. To get the badge you have to get a score of at least 500.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

The score is based on the number of kills plus your accuracy plus the number of levels you reach.  For the kills and accuracy percentage you get as many points as those numbers are.  For the levels you get 5 points per level you play.

The game goes until you run out of ammo.  The ammo can really add up if you hit multiple shapes with one shot, as each shape gets you back about as much as one shot.  Make sure you go back and forth picking up the ammo that falls from the kills.  Getting multiple kills per shot also helps increase your accuracy percentage, which means more points at the end.  Overall I found this took little time to get the hang of and get enough for the badge.  I probably could have gotten a way higher score, but I got tired of the game and started not really aiming to reduce my ammo and finally have the game over to submit my score for the badge.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points and PowerUp Reward Points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Gnarly Pipeline

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Saturday, August 13, 2011 is the Gnarly Pipeline Badge. This is a hard rated badge for the game Dino Run. To get the badge you have to doom surf for 30 seconds.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 33 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

You can get the doomsurf badge even if you play on easy.  Hang back and wait for the wave of doom to get to you and then try to stay in the doom without it taking over the whole screen.  In order for the doomsurfing time to count, you have to make it out of the doom wave.  I kept ending up out at 28 and 29 seconds, but finally managed to stay in and get out after 39 seconds on the first level on Easy.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Sacrifice for the Cause

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Thursday, August 11, 2011 is the Sacrifice fro the Cause Badge. This is an easy rated badge for the game Use Boxmen. To get the badge you have to beat level 3.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 6 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

The first three levels are pretty easy.  The first is straight forward.  The second one you have to hit shift to leave a copy of yourself on the button.  In the third you have to copy yourself while jumping and the copy will continue jumping.  Timing when to copy can be a little tricky, but not too hard.  Using R restarts the level, which is faster than clicking the restart button in top right of game.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: OMG! TANGERINES

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Wednesday, August 10, 2011 is the OMG! TANGERINES Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Tangerine Panic. To get the badge you have to dodge at least 100 tangerines.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

Tangerine Panic starts off slow, but very quickly get intense.  I thought I would never get it after playing for 15 minutes and not getting more than 97, but then I suddenly dodged 176 tangerines.  Definitely requires focus, as the tangerines bounce all over the place with varying trajectories.  Its oddly kind of fun, though.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Profesioeo

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Tuesday, August 9, 2011 is the Profesioeo Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Doeo. To get the badge you have to get a score of at least 30,000 in easy mode and beat the king in under 20 seconds.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

This badge was extremely easy for me to get on the first try.  You just move your mouse around to collect the Doeo.  In each level you must get at least 100 to move to the next.  In the final level you must get the king 5 times by moving in through the opening in his circle and then touching me.  I easily ended up with 32,000 points and got the king in about 15 seconds despite hitting the circle two or three times.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Whale of a Tale

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Sunday, August 7, 2011 is the Whale of a Tale Badge. This is a hard rated badge for the game Moby Dick. To get the badge you have to get a score of 500,000 and submit it after the game ends.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 33 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I have found this game to be fun to play, but it is extremely hard for me to get the hard achievement.  My high score is only about 30,000 so far.  I might keep trying some more today, but I doubt I can get good enough in just a day for this badge.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Party Crasher

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Saturday, August 6, 2011 is the Party Crasher Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Meat Boy. To get the badge you have to collect 4 band-aids, which unlocks Castle Crusher.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

I had little problem with the first set of levels and got both the bandaids available in them, but the second set is way too hard for me. I always have stunk at games that involved jumping.  This game I stink even more than usual at jumping.  Maybe, it is just me, but the damn meat thing is an extremely erratic jumper.  This makes it very hard to avoid the buzz saws.  By the way the 4 earliest band-aids are in Levels 3, 5, 7, and 9.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Nintendo DS Screenshots: You Don't Know Jack

I use to love playing You Don't Know Jack on the computer, so when I saw that they made a version for the Nintendo DS earlier this year I just had to try it out.  I ended up renting it through Gamefly, but I would not have regretted it if I had purchased instead.

In You Don't Know Jack for the Nintendo DS you can play as 1 or 2 players.  I only tried single player.  There are 37 different episodes to play through.  Basically, you can play through them all and then know all the answer and really rock at it.

The gameplay is just as fun as the original computer versions of You Don't Know Jack.  You buzz in by pressing the arrow direction for the correct answer to multiple choice questions.  For the Dis or Dat you use L and R buttons.  For the Final Jack Attack round you can press any button when the clues match up to fit the category.

Overall You Don't Know Jack is a fun trivia game, especially if you have enjoyed the computer versions.  However, it is somewhat limited in overall gameplay value since it only has 37 episodes, so only 370 total "questions."  Thus, it might make a better rental than purchase, but for the current price (~$17 to $23) it is available for it is not a bad deal to purchase it and leisurely play through all the episodes.

Kongregate Badge of the Day: Life, Love, Understanding

The Kongregate Badge of the Day for Friday, August 5, 20 is the Life, Love, Understanding Badge. This is a medium rated badge for the game Elephant Rave. To get the badge you have to survive the whole rave.  For getting this Badge of the Day you get 17 Gamestop PowerUp Reward Points.

You start by just dodging the lasers from the top of the screen.  They start red and turn green as they are about to come down.  About halfway through hurdles come from the left and move across the bottom of the screen.  This is the point I cannot seem to get past, as I always end up jumping over the hurdle and then not being able to move away from a top laser fast enough after clearing the hurdle.  Definitely a game that requires patience.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

I already had this badge, but I remember it taking some time to figure out how to be low enough to hit the snowman when I got enough upgrades to fly far enough to get to it.  If I remember correctly, turning around and flying upside down after I passed it ended up being how I got it.  However, you head low and stay low when you notice you are getting close can work, too.

As always if you already have the badge, just go to the game and you will be awarded the extra points.

Comment if you have any if you have any other tips to help others get today's badge to help out those having trouble. Also, feel free to ask questions if you need help and I will try to help you out.
